Closed. . . finally.

Took a little longer than we hoped, but we closed on the 26th.  And started right away on demolition.  Now the surround around the fireplace is gone which was not something we ever discussed.  But I think the living room will look bigger.

So far all the carpet tacks and staples are out.
And the baseboards in all but the front bedroom.
I vacuumed the spider webs (and some spiders) from the laundry room.
Mowed most of the lawn (or should I say meadow?).
Cut down the clothes lines which attempted to kill me.
Cut out a tree that had wound itself around the burglar bars on the kitchen window.

That seems a pitiful showing for 4 full days of work.  But I did also help Adam cut out and rebuild a 2' x 5' corner of the siding and inner wall that was totally rotted from water seepage and held the ladder while he went in and out of the attic space.  There are also a lot of shopping.

It is a very tiring and un-fun process.  Everyone says it will be worth it.  I hope so.

Holy Cow!

I've been saying that a lot lately.  Everything is happening so quickly.  We should know soon about the closing date.  Then it is time to get the keys and get started.  There is so much to do before we move in and we don't want to pay for rent and a mortgage for any longer than we have to.

Here are the before pictures directly from the realtor's ad.

Pictures will follow of the trials of remodeling.  Will we make it awesome or livably simple?  Modern or true to its age?  DIY or bring in the experts?  There are so many options.  Stay tuned.
